Damascus, Nov 9 (Prensa Latina) Violent clashes with armored vehicles and heavy artillery between the Syrian Army, Turkish troops and mercenary groups are taking place in the village of Um Shaif, in the northern province of Hasaka, SANA agency reports on Saturday.

According to the latest reports, the clashes are taking place in the vicinity of the Syrian city of Ras al-Ain, on the border between the two countries and occupied by Turkish forces.

Turkey, along with Syrian opposition paramilitary organizations, has been conducting an offensive against Kurdish milicias in Syrian territory in the provinces of Aleppo and Hasaka since October 9.

The operation, named Peace Spring by Ankara, had been interrupted, but now for the first time Turkish forces are carrying out actions against units of the Syrian Army deployed in that region, about 710 kilometers north of Damascus.
