CDC Executive Accuses NEC Of ‘Faulty’ Election, Says Boakai, Koung Administration Will Not Be recognized

An executive of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Alvin Wesseh, Assistant Secretary General of the ruling CDC has publicly accused the National Elections Commission (NEC) of ‘Faulty’ elections, noting that awarding Ambassador Joseph Nyumah Boakai and Senator Jeremiah Koung as winners of the November 14, 2023 election results will not be recognized by the CDC.

Wesseh who is also the Assistant Minister for Regional Development Research and Extension at the Ministry of Agriculture statement aired on local radio station, OK FM has been talk of the town, with many condemning such troubling utterance by an executive of the ruling establishment.

Wesseh whose immediate boss, the Secretary General of the CDC, Jefferson Tamba Koijee currently under United States Treasury Department sanctions for his alleged link to several crimes against humanity including human rights abuses and corruption may likely follow suit due to such statement made.

Some Liberians who spoke to the GNN-Liberia expressed disappointment, and called on the leadership of the ruling CDC to compel Alvin Wesseh to retract such threatening statement from its executive, noting that such ‘unpatriotic’ statement has the propensity to cause instability in the country’s new transitional process.

Speaking further on the statement made by Alvin Wesseh, some political analysts said such should be considered by all Liberians as worrisome, and that the leadership of the CDC should call him to book, and further probe such as to what gave rise for such disclosure.

Efforts to contact both the National Chairman of the ruling party, Mulbah Morlu, and Secretary General, Jefferson Tamba Koijee proved unsuccessful as both executives mobile phone rang endlessly.

However, our staff will make further follow up to get words from these two high profile officials of the CDC if what has been said by Wesseh met the approval of the CDC leadership.
