The National Election Commission has issued writ of election declaring November 20 as the date for the pending Monsterrado and Sinoe by-elections.

Addressing a news conference, NEC Chairman Cllr. Jerome Kokoyah issued the writ Thursday instructing the election Magistrates of Sinoe and Monsterrado counties for the conduct of the polls.

Cllr. Kokoyah said October 18 is the deadline for candidate nomination for the pending senatorial bi election in Sinoe and representative election in Monsterrado counties respectively.

According Cllr. Kokoyah, the by- election comes after the 54th Liberian National Legislature informed the National Election Commission of the vacancy at the House of Representatives and the Liberia Senate in keeping with the constitution.

The vacancies were created in Monsterrado county district # 13 and Sinoe County as a result of the appointment of Sinoe Senator Joseph Nagbe to the Supreme Court Bench and the election of Representative Saah Joseph to the Liberian Senate.

For his part, Sinoe Magistrate Solomon Jaryeneh assured the conduct of free, fair and credible and transparent bi elections.

But the Sinoe county Magistrate appealed to government to empower election workers through more financial and logistical support.
