Monrovia, Liberia — The Liberia National Police (LNP) has formally charged Mrs. Klady A. Paul, a 67-year-old classroom teacher, with assaulting a police officer during an incident that occurred on Tuesday morning at the 12th Street intersection in Sinkor.
According to an official statement from LNP Spokesperson Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Cecelia G. Clarke, Mrs. Paul allegedly approached Patrolman Koilous N. Larmin in a “hostile and disruptive manner” while he was performing his duties at around 7:15 A.M. on August 12, 2025.
Police allege that Mrs. Paul verbally attacked the officer and other personnel on duty before the situation escalated to physical aggression. She is accused of assaulting Patrolman Larmin and damaging a government-issued police radio during the altercation.
Following an investigation, Mrs. Paul has been formally charged with three offenses under the Penal Code of the Republic of Liberia:
- Simple Assault – Chapter 14, Section 14.21(A)
- Criminal Mischief – Chapter 15, Section 15.5
- Disorderly Conduct – Chapter 17, Section 17.3
She has been sent to court for prosecution.
In its statement, the LNP commended Patrolman Larmin for his “resilience, professionalism, and restraint” during the incident, noting that his composure reflected the values expected of officers. The police also stressed that there will be a zero-tolerance policy for assaults on law enforcement, and the law will be applied “without fear or favor.”
The case has generated discussion on social media and in local communities, with some expressing concern over rising tensions between civilians and law enforcement. Authorities have urged the public to allow the legal process to proceed and to respect the rule of law.
