Supreme Court Orders ‘Divided’ LP Leadership To Revert To 2021 Constitution

After months of crisis at the opposition Liberty Party (LP) ahead of the 2023 general and presidential elections, the Supreme Court of Liberia has ordered the  Liberty Party ‘divided’ leadership to revert to the party’s 2021 Constitution; Says corrections should only be made on the disputed portion of the party’s legal document

On Monday, May 30, 2022, the Justice in Chamber instructed the divided LP leaders to go back and correct only the 2021 Constitution that was agreed upon during the Farmington MOU.

Briefly after Justice Wolokolie made the pronouncement, Senator Karngar-Lawrence speaking to Judiciary reporters expressed satisfaction on the decision taken by the Justice in Chamber.

It can be recalled early this year, Justice Wolokolie gave 72 hours ultimatum to LP leadership, both the Bility and Karnga-Lawrence factions to make the necessary corrections in the 2021 Farmington constitution that was filed with the National Elections Commission.
