Sorrows Enter Bong, As accident claims four lives in Kokoyah

Another sorrow is in Bong County especially in SayWayee Town in Kokoyah District of was a scene of sorrow around 4 p.m. on Monday, November 5, as a vehicle belonging to a Chinese company hired by the Turkish Mining Company (MNG-Gold) allegedly killed four persons.

The some eyewitnesses  who spoke in an interview with this paper said  the victims  which included one girl and three boys came from mining sand for the show purpose of plastering of their local church, while on way home on a motor bike this Toyota land Cruiser four door pickup rush in them leaving the four of them death .

The driver of the company’s vehicle reportedly escaped the scene for fear of being killed by an angry mob that allegedly set the Toyota land cruiser four-door pickup ablaze.

Investigation conducted by this paper in area revealed that there was massive looting at the facility of the Turkish Mining Company while the protesters were protesting over the death of their relative in the area.

But through the effort of the Bong County superintendent Esther Walker and the Liberian National Police local office in the county who went at the scene said kind have been restored at the District.

Meanwhile, LNP has launched is vigorous such at various homes in the district in such of the looting material belong to the Turkish Mining Company.
It can be record that  recently, residents in the area of Kokoyah Statutory District, where MNG Gold operates, have expressed much frustration with the company’s handling of chemical waste from its gold mining operations, which allegedly spilled into nearby waterways.

The company later admitted that cyanide from its plant affected creeks that serve as sources of water for locals in Saywayee Town.

Lately there were reports of school-going kids vomiting blood as a result of the company’s waste site constructed near the school campus.

The vomiting incident led to the school administration immediately closing the school to the public until the situation could be addressed.
