President Boakai Establishes Task Force to Address U.S. Concerns, Avert Travel Ban

Monrovia, Liberia – President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has formed a high-level Presidential Task Force to address pressing concerns raised by the United States government. The move comes in response to worries that, if not resolved, could result in a travel ban.

Recognizing the broad scope of these issues, which touch upon various government ministries and agencies, President Boakai will chair the Task Force himself. The Minister of Foreign Affairs has been designated as Co-Chair.

Key institutions represented on the Task Force include:

  • Ministry of Justice
  • Ministry of Health
  • Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs
  • Liberia National Police
  • Office of the National Security Advisor
  • National Security Agency

The Task Force held its inaugural meeting on June 17, 2025, at the Executive Mansion, with President Boakai presiding. Attendees included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Justice, Inspector General of the Liberia National Police, Minister of State without Portfolio for Special Services, and the National Security Advisor.

Following its initial discussions, the Task Force has developed a comprehensive and urgent multi-sectorial work plan to tackle the identified concerns. The implementation of this plan will involve close collaboration with the U.S. government and will undergo continuous monitoring and evaluation to ensure accountability and achieve desired results.

President Boakai underscored his administration’s unwavering commitment to upholding good governance, the rule of law, and Liberia’s enduring partnership with the United States.
