Richard B. Dweh, after returning from his assignment on Tuesday refused to deliver the election materials including ballot boxes, records and other essential materials to the NEC local office in Sinoe.
According to Dweh, his refusal was based on the NEC abandonment of staffs assigned in Tuzonburg, stating that they had to make their way back to Greenville on their own expense.
“We completed our work mid-night without eating. We were not given anything by NEC to cater to feeding, early morning we packed our things and walk for three hours to get on the main road, we called the office they told us the car was coming we waited the entire day with empty stomachs, even without taking a bath the car did not come.
“We have begged people to sleep in a nearby town, the next morning few of us who had small money got on a bike and left the others behind. I have no intention of doing anything with these materials but to only get NEC attention for the others who are still stranded in the bush,” he said.
Sinoe County elections Magistrate Nelson Shanon admitted that many polling staffs are stranded across the county, but they are doing everything possible to have all of them return to Greenville. He, however, frowned on the workers keeping election materials.
Richard has meanwhile been released after going through investigation by the Liberia National Police.
