National Elections Commission mandates hearing officer to proceed with Musa Bility’s complaint over Unity Party eligibility to filed candidate in Lofa County; but UP insists it will participate in the impending by-election
The Board of Commissioners at the National Elections Commission has affirmed its hearing officer ruling into judicial review requested by the Opposition Unity Party against recent ruling by its hearing Officer.
In its ruling on Tuesday, the NEC Board also mandated the Hearing Office to proceed by looking into the merit of the case.
The four counts ruling by NEC Board stated that its Hearing Officer did not err, as the NEC was the first instance to review and pass on the ability or qualification of a party to participate in an election.
Despite the ruling for judicial review, Unity Party political leader Joseph Boakai assured partisans that the Party will filed a candidate in the Lofa County pending By-elections.
