The Liberian Vice President, Chief Jewel Howard-Taylor has urged members of the Young Political Leadership School Africa (YPLS Africa) at the Semester at a local hotel in Monrovia to be humbled in providing their services because they are servant of the people, adding that being ‘Humbled does not mean you are stupid.” Vice President told over seventy participants from Liberia and other countries.
Addressing participants, the Liberian Vice President called on them to respect the rule of law, and must be innovative in whatever they have to do; noting that what you do wrong has an effect on your children and those closed to you, wisdom must be applied, the Liberian Vice President in her address to the participants urged.
As many of the participants who were at program appeared enthusiastic of the Vice President’s address to them with a thunderous applauds also gave the Liberian Vice President more vigor to explain to the participants the importance of transformative value, called on them to be open minded and encourage conversation that will be in the interest of the people who will be served.
“People must trust you; and what you will say must be trustworthy, while at the same time you must be able to make difficult decision that would be able to encourage your followers,” Chief Taylor told the participants, urging them to do away with violence and tolerance to each other.
The Young Political Leadership School Africa (YPLS Africa) is a political organizing, leadership development and campaign training program for emerging young African leaders established in 2016, April by Naymote Partners for Democracy Development with the overarching goal to contribute to the formation of a new generation of leaders that would transform Africa with the following:
*Increase the knowledge and skills among people in planning, organizing and implementing political events
*Increase in the number of young people stepping forward to seek political offices at different levels of the governance structures
*Increase knowledge among young people to strategize the mobilization of other young people to support their peers during political campaign processes, and
*Build confidence and paves the way for emerging inspirational leaders in Africa.
The program today was also attended by the Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), Jefferson Koijee who poured praises on the Executive Director of Naymote Partner for Democracy Development, Mr. Eddie D. Jarwolo for his farsightedness in developing the skills of young Liberians and other Africa’s youthful population.
Mayor Koijee described Mr. Jarwolo as an innovator whose vision has made an impact on the lives of Liberians, and also urged participants not to be used to cause violence at their various locales.
Day One motivational speakers at the program were Dr. Nathaniel Barnes; former Liberian Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Ophelia Inez Weeks; President of the University of Liberia, H.E. Babatunde O. Ajesomo; The Special Representative of the President of ECOWAS, Mrs. Ora Barclay – Keller; Alumni of YPLS Africa, Bowmance M. Elaebi; Women Empowerment and Peacebuilding Specialist/ECOWAS Volunteer, and LawrenceYealue; Country Representative, Accountability Lab, :Liberia.
