NATIONAL ARCHIVES BOOSTS STAFF CAPACITY IN STRATEGIC PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT

By Kaipee Newray

Thirty senior staff members of the Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) completed a comprehensive training session on the Strategic Performance Management System today at the Clar Marie Weah Events Hall in Sinkor.

The one-day intensive exercise, facilitated by Smart Consortium, was designed to deepen the leadership’s understanding of strategic planning and align individual departmental efforts with the overall success of the National Archives.

The curriculum focused on practical tools for measuring organizational health, specifically emphasizing the development of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and the implementation of the Balanced Scorecard framework. These tools are intended to create a direct link between daily operations and long-term institutional goals.

During the session, Benjamin Blie, a technical consultant at Smart Consortium, urged participants to establish clear KPIs for every department within the agency. He emphasized that a robust strategic management framework is essential for translating the CNDRA’s mission, vision, and core values into actionable, comprehensive objectives.

Ebenezer A. Borbor, Technical Assistant and Advisor to the Director General, praised the quality of the facilitation, describing the presentation as “top-notch” and highly educational.

“This training is a critical baseline for our Programs, Planning, and Projects team, as well as our Monitoring and Evaluation staff,” Borbor noted. “We look forward to future refresher sessions to build upon this foundation.”

Echoing these sentiments, Zouan Worzon, CNDRA Director of Programs, Planning, and Projects, encouraged his colleagues to immediately integrate these strategic tools into their professional routines. He further recommended that the agency continue to provide similar professional development opportunities to ensure a sustained improvement in staff capacity and service delivery.
