MOI  Boosts Workforce Excellence Through Transformative Two-Day Capacity Building Training

By Amos Harris

In a bold demonstration of its commitment to professional excellence and efficient public service delivery, the Ministry of Information (MOI) has successfully concluded a two-day intensive staff training program. The initiative was designed to strengthen the administrative, technical, and professional capacities of employees across various departments, ensuring a more robust approach to government communications and operations.

Organized under the leadership of Minister Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, the impactful program brought together staff from several units for specialized sessions tailored to improve workplace performance, communication, and institutional effectiveness. The first day of the training targeted key administrative personnel, including administrative assistants, filing clerks, and secretaries. Participants engaged in practical sessions focused on report writing, note-taking, and basic computer literacy—three critical areas that form the backbone of effective office management and documentation. These sessions were expertly facilitated by Mr. Joseph N.N. Swen and Mr. Alieu Pusah, who provided insightful guidance and practical tools aimed at improving daily efficiency.

The second day of the program expanded to include security personnel, protocol officers, and office assistants, highlighting the Ministry’s inclusive approach to workforce development. This segment centered on protocol and etiquette, security guard responsibilities, internal security, people and asset control, and professional reporting. Facilitated by Mr. Joseph Nawoo Nanejeah Swen, Director of Press at the Civil Service Agency, and Mr. Eugene David, the training delivered professional insights on discipline, workplace conduct, and security best practices essential for a modern public institution.

The exercise underscored the Ministry’s dedication to building a well-rounded workforce capable of delivering services with professionalism, order, and accountability. By investing in development across both administrative and support functions, the Ministry continues to set a strong example of institutional reform and capacity enhancement within the government.

At the close of the training, participants expressed heartfelt appreciation to the MOI management for the meaningful initiative. Many praised Minister Piah for his visionary leadership and continuous commitment to empowering employees through skills development. Speaking on behalf of the group, several staff members thanked the facilitators for the wealth of knowledge shared, noting that the ideas provided would greatly improve their professional conduct and confidence in serving the public.

The successful conclusion of this two-day program marks another milestone in the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to modernize operations and strengthen internal systems. As the Ministry of Information continues to champion professionalism, this initiative stands as a clear reflection of the government’s broader commitment to human resource development and quality public service delivery in Liberia.
