The Government of Liberia through the National Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce is seeking consensus from member states of the MRU to convene a mini summit early this year in Monrovia to discuss issues relating to the increase wave of human trafficking in the sub region.
The summit will also look at the illegal operations of criminal network and agents involved in the recruitment of people in the region for employment in foreign countries.
In December of 2021, Minister Gibson paid similar official visit to the Republic of Sierra Leone and held discussions with his counterparts in the same vein.
Minister Gibson is being accompanied by Mr. Adolphus G. Satiah, Director of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce Secretariat, Police Chief Investigator of the joint LNP-LIS Unit on Human Trafficking, and Mr. Joseph Kortu Nyandibo, Director of Communications, Ministry of Labour. The delegation is expected back home on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
