Hundreds of Liberians and foreign residents yesterday, Monday, January 28, 2019 who were anxiously glued to their radio and television sets to listen to the much anticipated message of the Liberian leader hoping that the dust relating to the alleged missing billions will finally and answerably be put to rest.
However, some Liberians who spoke to the GNN immediately after the President’s message said they were impressed of his exposé, making specific reference on how he knowledgeably delivered his address as compare to previous state of the nation address, “His speech was tremendously ecstatic for some of us who listened to him via radio. He is improving gradually improving,” Nathaniel Gayflor, a resident of Jallah Town, Monrovia speaking to the GNN noted.
“President Weah spoke well, but the hope of the Liberian people regarding the missing monies was dashed; however, we are washing this government with eager eyes, the issue of this missing money must be addressed. He has again promised the Liberian people that come February, which is few days from now this report of how the money that allegedly was missing will be released,” Aaron Q. Gibson of central Monrovia told our staff in an exclusive interview.
For others, many of whom are members of the ruling CDC-led government could not withhold their joy as they kept lauding the efforts of the President and his officials in the period of one year, “This Government has done extremely well in a short period of time; the opening of roads in most parts of the country must be commended. This President is doing all in his powers to redeem this country from the shackle of uncertainty,” Jasper K.L. Wilson, a resident of Kakata, Margibi County who claimed to be a ‘Diehard’ Cdecian who said he came to Monrovia to grace the occasion marking the second annual message of the Liberian leader said.
“Like talk so and talk so, the President is doing well, but needs to take steps against some of his official who are using their positions to damage him in this government; those who are alleged of misapplying the country’s resources must be brought to book. If this is done the Liberian people will love this president more than ever,” Esther Juah Nimely, who claimed to be a resident of the Borough of New Kru Town speaking to the GNN said.
With the assurance given to the Liberian people on the release of missing billions by the President come next month, February, 2019, many of those who spoke to this outlet saying they are waiting for the result.
