Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Pavilion for the upcoming World Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, has officially unveiled its schedule of flagship events, designed to bolster international partnerships, showcase Liberian culture, and attract foreign investment.

During a press conference held in Monrovia on Monday, May 26, 2025, Ambassador Juli Endee, Commissioner General of Liberia’s delegation to Expo 2025, announced that these events are a core component of Liberia’s broader strategy to amplify its global presence and align with President Joseph N. Boakai’s ARREST Agenda.

“Liberia is utilizing this platform to articulate our national vision and demonstrate our readiness for global partnerships,” Ambassador Endee stated. “We are shining a spotlight on trade, infrastructure, and investment opportunities that are critical to achieving our sustainable development goals.”

The pavilion has already garnered significant interest, with over 80,000 visitors exploring its cultural displays and economic exhibits. Ambassador Endee reported that guests have shown particular enthusiasm for Liberia’s tourism, agriculture, mining, and fisheries sectors.

The first major event is the Women’s Forum, slated for August 24–25 at the Women’s Pavilion. Under the theme “Connecting Women in the Global Space Per Excellence for an Inclusive Society,” the forum will delve into topics of gender equality, cultural diplomacy, and the vital roles women play in global development. The event will feature prominent female leaders from both Liberia and Japan and will be co-hosted by the Jellyfish Pavilion, known for its artistic and cultural collaborations. Japanese performer and thematic project producer, Mrs. Sachiko Nakajima, will play a leading role in coordinating the forum.

Following this, the Business and Investment Forum will take place on August 27 at the Festival Station, Expo Site, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM. This forum aims to connect Liberian entrepreneurs and government officials with Japanese investors and global business leaders. Organized in collaboration with Yao City, a key industrial hub in Japan’s Kansai region, the event will be attended by the Mayor of Yao City and a high-level delegation of Japanese investors keen to explore opportunities in infrastructure, manufacturing, and exports. The Ministry of Commerce, in conjunction with the Liberia Chamber of Commerce, will spearhead business-to-business (B2B) networking sessions and sector-specific workshops focusing on small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Liberia’s National Day will be celebrated on August 28 with a grand event highlighting the nation’s rich cultural heritage. Children from Yao City and Nikaho City will join their Liberian counterparts in a parade and a rendition of the national anthem, accompanied by local artists Semah and Glady. The festivities will culminate in a musical performance at the Expo Arena, with over 1,000 guests anticipated. The evening will also feature a cultural showcase and the prestigious Golden Image Awards ceremony, followed by a presidential dinner and live music at the Grand Prince Hotel.

Commissioner General Endee expressed her gratitude to President Joseph Nyuma Boakai for his support of Liberia’s participation in the expo, noting that visa facilitation for Liberians attending the event has been prioritized. “This is a remarkable opportunity for Liberian artists and entrepreneurs to tell their story on a global stage,” she stated. “We thank President Boakai for providing us with this platform.”

Also speaking at the event, Daniel O. Sando, Deputy Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, encouraged Liberians in the creative sector to fully capitalize on the opportunities presented by the expo. “Expo 2025 Osaka is more than just a world fair; it’s a moment for Liberia to shine,” Sando affirmed.
