Monrovia, Liberia – The Liberia Land Authority (LLA), under the leadership of Chairman Hon. Samuel F. Kpakio, is set to commence a six-county tour on Wednesday, June 11, 2025. This significant initiative aims to strengthen land governance and administration across Liberia, fostering transparency and resolving long-standing land-related issues.
Chairman Kpakio will be accompanied by a team of technical experts as he visits Nimba, Grand Gedeh, River Gee, Maryland, Grand Kru, and Sinoe Counties. The comprehensive nationwide tour seeks to engage local stakeholders, promote inter-agency collaboration, and identify key challenges affecting land governance and administration at the grassroots level.
Throughout the tour, the LLA delegation will hold crucial meetings with a diverse range of officials and community leaders, including County Superintendents, District Commissioners, City Mayors, Circuit Court officials, traditional leaders, and LLA county staff. Discussions will primarily focus on improving coordination among various institutions, ensuring policy compliance, and offering technical guidance on effective land dispute resolution mechanisms.
In addition to these engagements, the visit will feature assessments of LLA county offices to evaluate their operational efficiency. The team will also review the status of public and government-owned lands, a critical step towards enhancing land tenure security. Furthermore, educational materials and policy documents will be distributed to enhance public awareness of land rights and governance, empowering citizens with vital information.
A key highlight of the tour will be a rapid assessment meeting with stakeholders in Grand Gedeh County. This specific meeting is dedicated to addressing growing concerns over the alleged occupation of customary land by Burkinabe nationals, a situation that has sparked tensions and raised significant questions about land tenure security in the area. The LLA is committed to finding a fair and sustainable resolution to this sensitive issue.
The LLA encourages the public to stay informed about the tour’s progress and findings through its official website, Facebook page, the Liberia Broadcasting System (ELBC), and other national media outlets.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparent and efficient land administration, the Liberia Land Authority continues to position itself as the country’s “One-Stop-Shop” for all land-related transactions, striving to ensure justice and equity in land management for all Liberians.
