Liberia Dujar University College Launches Three-Year Sustainable Development Plan

By Amos Harris

Liberia Dujar University College has launched an ambitious three-year Sustainable Development Plan and Fundraising Campaign, marking a major step forward in the institution’s drive to expand access to quality higher education and transform its learning environment. The landmark event brought together senior government officials, members of the university’s Board of Trustees, development partners, faculty, students, and invited guests in a unified show of support for the institution’s future.

The three-year roadmap outlines several infrastructure and capacity-building projects aimed at strengthening the university’s academic standing. Key priorities include the construction of a modern auditorium, additional classrooms, simulation laboratories, and a campus health center, alongside expanding student and staff transportation through the acquisition of new buses.

Held under the distinguished patronage of His Excellency Joseph N. Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia, who served as Chief Launcher, the ceremony featured a keynote address delivered on the President’s behalf by Senior Advisor Prof. Augustine Konneh, Ph.D. In his remarks, Prof. Konneh commended the university for its commitment to sustainable growth and reaffirmed the government’s support for tertiary education. Demonstrating the administration’s active interest, he urged university leadership to submit complete architectural designs and detailed budget proposals directly to the Office of the President for consideration.

The event also featured House Speaker Richard Nagbe Koon, who delivered an inspiring address highlighting education as the essential foundation for Liberia’s human resource development. Speaker Koon demonstrated his support by donating a bus to the university to ease daily transportation challenges and announcing fully funded scholarships for two lecturers to pursue advanced studies abroad.

Mr. David M. Seward, Chairman of the Fundraising and Development Committee, outlined the campaign’s core objectives, appealing to private sector partners, public institutions, alumni, and international allies to contribute. He characterized the initiative as a strategic investment in the nation’s youth and future workforce.

University authorities celebrated the successful launch as a milestone achievement for Mr. Seward’s committee, expressing confidence that the campaign will attract key partnerships. With planned upgrades spanning specialized labs, healthcare, and modern classrooms, Liberia Dujar University College has positioned itself for a new era of academic excellence and institutional expansion.
