The Yila Clinic in Electoral District #1 provides medication to thousands of residents in that locality including inhabitants along the St. John River in Nimba County.
Briefing our Bong County Correspondent recently in Yila Town, Kpaii District Bong County, the Officer in Charge of the Yila Clinic Mr. David Sumo stated that the lack of essential drugs at the health center, nurses are now giving prescriptions to patients in order to purchase drugs from private drugs stores in and out of the District.
According to Sumo the Clinic has been out of significant drugs over the past five months in Kpaii District, thus- creating panic among patients attending the health center and health workers of the Yila clinic.
“We have been giving prescriptions to patients to buy drugs, but majority of them do not go by the prescription, which is dangerous to their health as patients,Mr. Sumo added”.
Mr. Sumo narrates, besides violating the prescriptions, Patients in the vicinity usually travel from fardistances to buy drugs.
The Yila Clinic OIC also used occasion to the call on the Ministry of Health, NGOs and other charity institutions operating in the Country to help buttress their efforts with major drugs for the betterment of the struggling citizens’ lives.
Also commenting on other issues in the area, David Sumo stated that health practitioners and citizens of the neighborhood some part of 2018 embarked on the construction of a new health center in order to relocate the clinic, maintaining that the project which is been finance by citizens of Yila and its environs is currently at a standstill due to the lack of building materials to complete the building.
He also wants the support of the government, nongovernmental organization or Humanitarian to fully complete the project.
David Sumo revealed that when the facility is completed citizens and patients of the District will have access to modern health entity in that part of the Country.
