Who Is Liberia’s New Minister Of Information: The Man Ledgerhood Julius Rennie

Recently, October 1, 2020, the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah surprise the nation with his birthday gift when he made several appointments in his government, including one of Liberia’s best suited broadcast journalists who was also part of the President’s gift to the Liberian people.

This week, as our Profile of the Month, we feature one of those who was  appointed by the Liberian leader to professionally stir the affairs at the Ministry of Information, Culture Affairs & Tourisms (MICAT), what he brings to this institution is Ledgerhood Julius Rennie.

‘Leg’ as he is popularly call by man of his peers has more than 27 years of experience of broadcast journalism by working at various levels in the country’s media industry; his expertise comes broadcast management, journalism training and product as well as information and news management, and reporting.

As part of his passion, Liberia’s new Minister of Information, Culture Affairs & Tourism (MICAT) served for the last two decades in key managerial roles heading one of Liberia’s most powerful and independent media outlets, the Radio Veritas, owned and operated by the Catholic Archdiocese of Monrovia where he earnestly worked with commitment.

On the international scene, Ledgerhood Julius Rennie served the UK based British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) as one of its Liberia Correspondents for number of years acquiring vast experience in reporting on international issues, exhibiting his talents as a professional journalist who is always opted for professionalism in his assignment.

As a means of improving his love for the journalism profession, he locally and internationally underwent internship at both the Voice of America (VOA) and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).

At the national level, he served as Deputy Director General for Broadcasting and Media Services at the state run Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS), due to his professional handling of this assignment, he was named and appointed by the CDC-led government as Director General of said system, a position he diligently head prior to his appointment as the Minister of Information, Culture Affairs & Tourism.

A product of several renowned academic institutions including the University of Liberia, where in 2005 he obtained his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication & Political Science, in 2009 he, obtained his Masters of Arts Degree in Journalism at the Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom.

The new boss of the Information Ministry family is a trained Liberian journalist who has over the years proofed to be one of the best in the sector, the journalism sector. He preferment by the Liberian leader must be considered by the Liberian media community as the best in the President’s call to duty.
