Finance Ministry Launches Five-Year Strategic Plan to Bolster ARREST Agenda

By Amos Harris

The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning (MFDP) has launched a new five-year strategic plan aimed at strengthening its role in advancing Liberia’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive Development. The strategy will serve as a key roadmap for the ministry’s contribution to national development.

Speaking at the launch, Acting Finance Minister Anthony G. Myers, who also serves as Deputy Minister for Fiscal Affairs, explained that the new framework will build on lessons from the 2019–2023 plan while addressing existing gaps. He emphasized the need for a fresh approach, noting that the ministry’s mandate has evolved since its merger with the former Ministry of Planning and Economic Affairs in 2013.

Deputy Minister for Administration Bill McGill Jones called on departmental and unit heads to actively engage in the process by sharing their priorities with the core team and consultants. He stressed that staff participation is critical to ensuring the plan reflects the collective vision of the institution.

According to the ministry, the new strategic framework is designed to align with the government’s ARREST Agenda, reinforcing its focus on inclusive growth and sustainable development across Liberia.
