Court Sentences Bill Jallah to Life Imprisonment for Girlfriend’s Murder

MONROVIA, Liberia – A court in Monrovia has sentenced Bill Jallah to life imprisonment for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend, Princess Zuo Wesseh. The decision, handed down on Monday, September 22, aims to bring closure to the murder that occurred on December 21, 2024, at a local entertainment center in Duport Road.

During the trial at Criminal Court “B,” Jallah took the stand and expressed remorse for his actions, admitting that his relationship with the deceased had been marked by harassment and ill intentions. However, the presiding judge, Wesseh A. Wesseh, described the defendant’s actions as premeditated and fueled by malice, leading to the tragic loss of life.

The prosecution called three witnesses, including a bartender at the entertainment center, who provided a gruesome account of the stabbing that resulted in Princess’s untimely death. The court heard how Jallah’s violent outburst during a dispute with the victim led to multiple stab wounds, causing panic among bystanders and leaving a deep impact on the community.

Despite efforts by the defendant’s lawyers to mitigate the charges, the court upheld the guilty verdict delivered by the trial jury. While Jallah’s plea for mercy and heartfelt apologies to the victim’s family and the Government of Liberia were taken into consideration during sentencing, the judge noted that Jallah’s own sister was injured while attempting to mediate the situation.

As Jallah begins his life sentence, the echoes of this tragedy reverberate throughout the community, serving as a stark reminder of the consequences of senseless violence. The court’s decision sends a clear message that such acts of aggression will not be tolerated in society.
