Information Minister Lenn Eugene Nagbe has said that the commitment made by the Weah-led Government for the construction of a coastal highway is still alive.
He revealed that the ECOWAS Bank for Development and Investment has committed an amount of US$100 million for the pavement of the coastal highway connecting the Southeastern region to other parts of the country.
“The project of the coastal highway is alive and the terms are going to be a concessionary loan agreement,” Nagbe said Monday on a local radio talk show in Monrovia.
Nagbe stated that the Liberian leader is “a person who is working tirelessly” in the interest of the Liberian people and whatever he does is for the ultimate good of the nation.
He noted that the ECOWAS Bank for Development and Investment has sent delegates to meet with the Minister of Finance and they are fully committed to a portion of the loan.
Nagbe added that the Minister of Finance attended the World Bank annual meeting in Indonesia and came back with a proposal and is still working with the Bank as a main driver to the new innovative financing, adding that this new financing mechanism does not affect the country in a negative way.
“The coastal highway is an active project because it was what the president promised and we will score the goal of the coastal highway now that the best mechanism is been put in place,” Nagbe noted.
