According to eyewitness who spoke to our staff on the scene of the incident, said the clashes erupted when some members of the CDC were moving towards central Monrovia to end their campaign, some members of the group began to throw stones at members of ALCOP who were also closing their campaign rally at their headquarters on the Japan Freeway, this situation resulted to stone throwing between the two.

However, in an exclusive mobile phone interview, the Special Assistant to ALCOP political leader, Lusinee F. Kamara, Mohamed M. Komara confirmed, and explained that the incident was prompted by some partisans of the CDC, who he claimed started the stone throwing, while at the same times throwing insults with other provocative statements.

Komara also used the occasion to call on Liberians to desist from violence activities that will have the propensity of derailing the ongoing peace Liberians are now enjoying, and allow the Tuesday, October 10 electoral to take place peacefully.

Effort to contact the National Chairman of the ruling CDC, Mr. Mulbah Morlu via mobile phone proved unsuccessful as his mobile phone rang endlessly.
