Following report of illegal mining activities allegedly been carryout by the brother-in-law of President George Weah, Marcus Duncan, a local pressure group, Justice For Liberia says it has filed a complaint to the United Nations regarding the alleged illegal mining in Liberia by the first family including the brother of Madam Clar Weah (a Jamaican) .
Addressing a news conference in Monrovia, the executive director of the Justice for Liberia, Maxim Kparkolo described the alleged action on the part of the first family as ‘Massive Corruption’ aimed at looting the resource of the country.
He also disclosed that the brother-in-law of the Liberian leader, President Weah has also hired soldiers of the Armed Force of Liberia (AFL) to frighten people in the area where the mining of the country’s natural resources are taken place.
Early this year, 2020, a local daily, Front Page Africa reported that the brother of the Liberian First Lady, Madam Clar Marie Weah, Marcus Duncan was involved in illegal mining in one of the counties, an allegation he, Marcus Duncan denied, and noted that he is doing investment in the county.
