The Vice Chairman for Political and Governmental Affairs of the Movement for Democratic Reconstruction (MDR) Wilfred Bangura has seriously rejected call my his political leader to withdraw support from the second term bid of President Weah during the pending October 2023 general and presidential elections.
Mr. Bangura who previously served as the founding Secretary General and acting Chairman of the MDR said in spite of Senator Johnson’s call to withdraw support from the CDC-led government in the coming election, this decision on the part of Senator will not hold, noting that the MDR will support the CDC in its bid to elect President Weah for his second term bid for another six years.
Following his rejection to withhold support to the CDC ordered by Senator Johnson, another group from the party has condemned the action of Wilfred Bangura who also Deputy Minister for Administration at the Ministry of Commerce, calling for his expulsion from the MDR, noting that he has betrayed the trust and confidence of the party.
The group in a statement released by the MDR Press and Public Affairs division said the party is working modalities to resolve the issue, noting that Bangura has publicly betrayed the leadership of their party.
