Amid Remote-Control Detractors’ Quest To Frustrate Koffa’s Speakership Bid, 55th Majority Lawmakers Say He’s The Right Man
Following the displaying of placards against the Deputy Speaker of the 54th Session of the National Legislature by some youths who are believed to have been programed by opponents of Cllr. Jonathan Fonati Koffa who is vying for the Speakership of the 55th Session of the Legislature in their presentation were noted to be dumbfounded.
These young Liberians who were believed to have been programed by their masters for little or nothing, during their so call protest on the grounds of the Capitol Building could not clearly explain their motive for which they were hired by their financiers to damage the high earned reputation of the incoming Speaker who has over the years performed excellently at the National Legislature.
GNN-Liberia investigation has uncovered that these detractors and their sponsors did not do their research properly which would have paved the way in order to justify their protest against the Deputy Speaker, a situation described by several political observers as ‘worthless’, but rather geared towards fetching for their daily survival.
The Deputy Speaker in his recent international radio interview, specifically on the Voice of America (VOA), he said, “I am vying for speakership for the following reasons among others: reform of the budget so that the 73 distracts feel the real impact of fiscal spending by allocating One Million Dollars per district for health, education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development”.
Explaining further, the Deputy Speaker noted that “The budget is 700 million plus, we can afford 73 million out of it ), 2) to push for the coastal highway covering the south eastern Liberia . This highway will benefit all of the country because it will make trade with ivory coast, the fastest growing economy in West Africa, easier. I would like to implement modernization reform so that the house enters the digital age with electronic voting, digital agenda management, web presence, secure email etc, accountability of the legislature with fiscal outturn and annual audits passing legislation that streamline the investment climate and make it easier for Liberians to do business. Liberia must do business with Liberians as is done in other countries… “
