Former Liberian Vice President, Joseph N. Boakai

Unity Party Political leader Joseph Boakai vows to fight back if his party is deny fielding candidate in the pending Lofa County by-election

Opposition Unity Party says any attempt to exclude it from fielding candidate in the Lofa County senatorial by-election will be direct infringement of the political participation of hundreds of thousands of Liberians.

Addressing a news conference early Thursday, UP political leader Joseph Boakai said denying the party participation will be denying several Liberians in Lofa the right to vote, a situation which he said, could undermine the country’s security.

The former Vice President said the National Elections Commission under the leadership of Davidetta Browne-Lassanah over the last twenty-four hours, released the Lofa County senatorial by-election Provisional listing, but the name of the Unity Party candidate Galakpai Kortimai is not mentioned amongst those being cleared to contest.
