Advocacy Group Wants U.S. Sanctions Public Officials Amid Rampant Corruption
Local advocacy group, the National Polit Bureau of Liberia is calling on the United States government to immediately place sanctions on all public officials who are allegedly involved with rampant corruption and other vices that undermine good governance in the country
Speaking in an interview with reporters Thursday, the bureau’s National Chairman Victor Balo, encouraged the United States government and the European Union not to assist the Liberian government with its own responsibilities to the citizens.
He also termed the U.S. Ambassador’s recent statement concerning the filthy condition of Monrovia, as welcoming.
The Polit-bureau chairman stated the OP-ED statement from Ambassador Michael McCarthy should serve as a wakeup call for officials of the Monrovia City Government to ensure the city is cleaned and green.
