My staff and I had the pleasure of helping with move-in and it represents some of what we love so much about Liberia College.
At the college, we treat our work with enthusiasm; the warmth, the careful planning and celebrations, the numerous achievements of our distinguished faculty, outstanding students and hardworking staffs, especially, the efforts of so many people coming together simply to help other people who need it. That sense of community is a part of what makes Liberia College special. Our students represent the beacon of light shining our path toward this remarkable goal. Our chairpersons and faculty are intellectually equipped and standout to be among the best academics in our country.
As Dean of the College, I am responsible for a plethora of academic and co-curricular resources and administrative offices that usher our students from admission to graduation. I oversee the academic quality, standards, and policies of the college’s undergraduate education in and out of the classroom. We had another momentous year at Liberia College. As you know, we welcomed new faculty and students at the beginning of every semester. In keeping with that tradition, we want to formally thanks and welcome the President of the University of Liberia Prof. Dr. Julius J.S. Nelson and his dedicated, committed team and astute leadership. Dr. Nelson outlined his priority for the university to become a preeminent, research-driven and global institution, as well as a producer of leaders for the present and future.

Our Location
Liberia College is an interesting paradox. It’s a small, supportive community hosted in a single roof of Academic Complex of the University of Liberia. It is just a place where you’ll soon know every face, but it sits at the heart of the university’s Fendall campus. We have one of Liberia’s most sophisticated campuses, the three-story beautiful structure hosts academics and administrators, and several classrooms, suited for teaching and learning It really is remarkable. The campus is literally surrounded by lush green rainforest. To us, it’s the best with a beautiful land scape, comfortable cloister, with access to every possible amenity.

Departments
Currently, there are 15 academic departments and ten academic units in the college, eleven of which confer a 4-year Baccalaureate Degree in specialized field of studies. The degree granting departments are: English and Literature, French Studies, Social Work, Demography, Geography, Sociology, Criminology, History, Political Science, Communication and Media Studies, Philosophy and Religious Studies. The non-degree granting departments are: Physical Education and Sports, Social Science, Arts and Crafts, ROTC and Liberia Languages. The various departments and units have been merged to six to reflect the current dynamic across the world as higher education institutions (HEIs) recognized the fact that the world is changing very rapidly and increasingly.

Practical Research
Liberia College has harmonized the various academic departments’ curricula and introduced standardized research methodology courses across the college. Students who successfully pass the research course are advanced for thesis writing. Thesis writing is a special requirement for students in the college to fulfill a 4-year Baccalaureate Degree Requirements to earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) Degree. Some went on to serve as president and vice presidents of the Republic of Liberia, Ministers, legislators, Ambassadors, Deputy Ministers, Commissioners, Heads of Public cooperation, Standard-bearers of Political Parties, and religious leaders. Political Scientists, Professors, Diplomats, Politicians, Military Officers, law Enforcement Officers, Policy-makers, Professional Journalists, Authors and Publishers, Research Fellows. Others fruitfully moved onward to become Presidents, Vice Presidents, Deans and Academic Directors higher institutions of learning.

How to Enroll
We welcome students from all professional and academic backgrounds to enjoy our under-graduate courses. Many of our students choose to enroll in one of our a four-year bachelor’s degree. Students can take up to 15 credits for each of the eight academic semesters at the college. At the end of the final year, students are required to write a thesis and defend the research in front of an academic jury of five academics. In order to enroll at the college, candidates are usually required to write an entrance and placement exams and must make a successful pass.

Many of our students are enrolled in one of the various departments of studies for personal enrichment, sharpening skills and exploring interests. Studying During Covid-19
The college is strictly in adherence to the University of Liberia policy of blended learning in-person class and eLearning access to courses due to surge in COVID-19 pandemic. We recognize that many students will be dealing with the aftereffects of the pandemic for some time. Whether starting studies from afar or finishing your last few credits, we are prepared to help you realize our dream for quality education. Our students voluntarily make decisions whether for in-person class and eLearning.
