Shooting Between Two Army Officers Led One Dead, Several Injured, Frightened Civilians

Gun battle between officers of the Armed Forces of Liberia (AFL) on June 6, 2022 at the Star Based, Bushrod Island which led to the death of one of the officers, and injuring several civilians who are said to be undergoing medical treatment at the local hospital in Monrovia has scared several residents of the area.

This latest situation has compelled the Ministry of National Defense and the headquarters of the AFL to order a lockdown after this fatal shooting incident which took place at 2030hrs.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Defense yesterday, the ministry said, “The motive behind the shooting is yet to be established.” Notwithstanding, the Provosts Marshall , the Military Police  and the Liberia National Police are currently involved with the investigation to establish the motive behind the shooting.

According to the press release from the Ministry of National Defense and the Armed Forces of Liberia, “The families of the victims have been contacted and all necessary assistance or support  for them has been considered.”
