As Members of the Liberia National Bar Association set to go to elections on Saturday, November 27, 2021, report coming out of the process says a senior member of the Collaborating Political Party (CPP) is making all efforts to interfere with the elections.
According to sources within the Bar, the political Leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), Mr. Alexander B. Cummings is secretly supporting Cllr. Abraham Sillah, Cllr. Jamal Dehto and Atty. Lamie Kpargoi for their respective positions.
Our source said that Mr. Cummings support for the three contestants is being channeled through Cllr. Negbelee Wanner and Cllr. Yarfar Barpeh a senior member of the ANC.
Our source added that Mr. Cummings involvement in the process is becoming galling as many of those already engaged are said to be against the interference of political party and their leaders into the Bar elections process.
About twelve (12) candidates are said to be contesting for the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary General and Treasurer. Cllr. Sillah and three others are contesting for the position of President, Cllr. Jamal Dehto and Lamie Kpargoi are contesting the positions of Vice President and Secretary General respectively. Also there are two contestants for the position of Treasure.
Observers believed that if Mr. Cummings is successful in manipulating the outcome of the Bar’s elections by ensuring that his three men elected, the Bar will not have independence in terms of judgment or opinion on national issues in the future.
Meanwhile news coming in from the CDC League of Lawyers camp is settled on the League’s support for Cllr. Jallah Barbu and not for Cllr. Rennie as was erroneously reported.
Countless efforts by the GNN to verify this allegation leveled against the ANC political leader proved unsuccessful, as all efforts did not come to fruition.
