The reported dismissal of the Managing Director of the Liberia Airport Authority (LAA), Bishop John Allen Klayee by the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah last week for what was described as ‘Administration Reasons’ seems to be to the contrary, as GNN has gathered differing information.
According to GNN investigation, the LAA boss, Bishop John Allen Klayee who is the Genera; Overseer of the Jubilee Praise & Worship Center (Liberty Ministry) previously served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the LAA entity did tendered in his letter of resignation days before his reported dismissal by the Liberian leader as was being reported.
Sources closed to the LAA confided in the GNN that Bishop Klayee prior to his reported resignation or dismissal was under serious pressure from some high ups in government allegedly demanding him to privatize the nation’s only international airport, the Roberts International Airport to some Arab investors, a demand, according to GNN source he allegedly refused which reportedly led to his dismissal after he reportedly tendered in his resignation.
The Roberts International Airport (RIA) was originally built by the US Government as a base during the Second World War. On 14 July 1941, the Liberian Government came to an agreement with Pan American Airways (PAN AM) to convert RIA into a civil and commercial airport.
Despite effort by the GNN to verify this information, our reporter on several occasions made countless number of attempts to get in touch with the Bishop Klayee at his Church, the Jubilee Praise & Worship Center (Liberty Ministry) on the Sinkor Old Road, the suburb of Monrovia, proved unsuccessful.
Effort is been applied by this outlet to once again contact Bishop Klayee regarding this story which stated that he was dismissed for ‘Administrative Reasons’. We will also try again to reach the Ministry of Transport regarding the allegation that the Liberian government has decided to private the RIA by reportedly allowing an Arab company to take over the airport.
