GBARNGA, Dec. 19 (LINA) – A tragic motor vehicle accident Saturday in Gbarnga, the capital of Bong County, has left two women dead and four other people badly injured, the Liberia News Agency (LINA) has learnt.
The collision of the sedan and a Land Cruiser jeep shocked bystanders, with many others trooping to witness its aftermath.
The lives of market women from separate locations—one from Gbatala and the other from Zeansu—onboard the “taxi” were lost, LINA gathered.
They had boarded the vehicle for Gbarnga to buy goods that they would have taken back to their community markets to retail when the worst happened.
Among the injured are a woman and her 6-month-old child, rushed to the Phebe Hospital in Suacoco with the others for treatment.
However, it is yet unclear whether any casualty onboard the jeep has been recorded by the police as there seemed no sign of that.
Meanwhile, the cars involved have been taken to the Gbarnga Police Station.
As soon as the tragedy occurred, a police officer appeared at the scene and was seen conducting (first-hand) investigation, which has now given way to a broader probe to ascertain facts surrounding the accident that has attracted more attention from people in that part of the country, given the current hustling and bustling during the festive season.
