The Maryland County Health Team has announced that the first and the only confirmed case of the deadly COVID-19 in the County has been declared free, noting that currently there is a ‘Zero case’ in the County.
Making the disclosure to reporters recently, Dr. Methodius George said the first battle has been won, stressing, “To day we have gone 31 days without a new case, we have won the battle many thanks to the public for their support and cooperation in the fight of this deadly disease,” Dr. George noted.
Dr. George speaking to reporters said Roland Hinneh, 24 who was first confirmed of the virus has been discharged after going through all of the tests administered by the County Health Team.
Mr. Hinneh was tested positive on the 25th of April, 2020 been named as the first and only person to be tested positive of the virus.
Speaking to reporters, Roland Hinneh said he is grateful to God for His protection upon his life and grace that took him through his treatments at the Health Facility, and further commended the Health workers at the Pleebo Health Center for the love, care and kindness shown towards him during his admission at this facility .
He also called on Marylanders and Liberians to believe that the Coronavirus is real and it is indeed in Liberia.
“I want Liberians to follow the precautionary measures put in place by the Ministry of Health and the National public Health institute of Liberia. Let people constantly wash their hands, avoid shaking hands and Public Gathering, and observing social distancing, including the lockdown and stay home,” he said.
“It is because of the spread of the pandemic, he noted that the Liberian government closed churches, schools, mosques including our social activities, but with the helping hands of all Liberians the virus can be overcome and defeated, so normal activities can start again in our country,” Roland Hinneh added.
