For several weeks there has been fervid speculation that North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un is dead, or gravely ill.

But recently released satellite imagery suggests the leader is instead on holidays at his coastal resort.

North Korean-monitoring website NK Pro has studied commercial satellite imagery of his beachside resort in Wonsan.

And the appearance of Kim’s 55m leisure yacht outside his private villa suggests that he is alive and well.

Every time one of Kim’s boats is docked at the villa in the past year, he has been confirmed to be there.

This includes in May last year, where he disappeared from the public eye for some weeks.

On April 21 and 23, satellite images showed a train at Kim’s private train station nearby the villa.

The villa is an important compound for Kim, with the dictator hosting former Chicago Bulls NBA star Dennis Rodman there in 2013.
