LIBERIA: Dr. Chambers Expresses Optimism about GOL COVID-19 Containment Approach

The Speaker of the 54th Legislature, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, has said that he is confident and optimistic about the handling of the GOL ongoing efforts to contain and bring to zero the number of COVID-19 cases in the Country.

According to Dr. Chambers he believes that so far the level of work done by the Government through its health authorities should be lauded by all Liberians as the Country moves from preventing COVID-19 to containing it.

In a chat with his Office Communications Staffers, the Speaker says even at the Legislature, they are implementing policy decisions to reduce workers in efforts to halt the spread of the disease and envisioned that Liberia will definitely overcome this challenge posed by COVID-19, as he prays similarly for the rest of the World to come victorious against the virus.

In furtherance, the Speaker intoned that the impact of COVID-19 on the Liberian economy remains visible and the Legislature remains disposed to working with the Executive to reach any tangible solutions where legislations are required.

The Speaker disclosed that already the Legislature will be considering mechanism to review and rewrite some laws affecting some vibrant economic sectors of the country including Mining, Logging and the Fishery sectors similar to Germany, Norway, Botswana, and Canada in terms of the management and benefits from the aforementioned.
