GNN Liberia investigation has uncovered that the Liberian leader, President George Manneh Weah in his bid to robustly take over every sector of the Liberian Government is reportedly contemplating to submit twenty-eight bills to the National Legislature for amendment, with one of them to do with the extension of the tenure of the presidency.
Already two bills including the removal of the tenure positions and the amendment of authority given to the Vice President to have control over the Group of 77; an institution for the disabled, and the National Lottery, it has been alleged that the President is determined to control every aspect of the government.
For the Judiciary, the President, according to our source is also fighting hard for his presence to be felt with the impeachment of Justice Kabineh M. Ja’neh, and the just appointment of Sinoe County Senator, Cllr. Joseph Nagbe replacing Cllr. Philip Z.B. Banks who recently retired as member of that Bench, has also given edge to the CDC led Government to have control of the judiciary.
Another unconfirmed information gathered by this outlet has indicated that the pending reshuffle in government will feature one of Liberia’s sound economists, Dr. Toga Gaywea McIntosh who report said is expected to take over from Mr. Nathaniel McGill as Minister of State for Presidential Affairs, while the current Managing Director of the Liberia Petroleum Refining Company, Ms. Nyemadi D Pearson is also expected to take over the National Social Security & Welfare Corporation as its Director General.
It has also been learnt that the former head of the General Auditing Commission (GAC) John Morlu is expected to be appointed as Minister of Finance, Development & Planning, while other changes are expected to be carry out at the ministries of Information Culture & Tourism, the Post and Telecommunications, and the Monrovia City Corporation.
