The 171st Independence Day celebration of Liberia, held on July 26, 2018, was made lively for scores of underprivileged children currently being cared for at four orphanage homes located in Monrovia by the AG Children Foundation, a children charity group based in Mahoica, Spain.
Orphanage homes that benefited from the AG Children Foundation humanitarian gesture are the Sis. Iye Orphanage School System in Bardnersville, the Rock of Devine Hope in the S.K. D Community, Paynesville City, the SOS Children Village in Matadi Estate and the Mother Victoria Orphanage Home in New Matadi Estate among others.
Items donated included assorted food, toiletries, sacks of water, soccer jerseys, bed sheets, footballs, towels, pasta, exercise books, full cream evaporated milk, vegetable oil and canned of food, sweets among others.
Receiving the items, the orphanages invariably expressed profound gratitude to the AG Children Foundation for the gesture and promised to judicially distribute them among the children in their care respectively.
At the Sis. Iye Children Foundation, the Founder and Administrator of the Foundation, Mother Iye was full of praise for the AG Children Foundation, saying, at the time of celebrating the Independence day of Liberia it was heartwarming to see a group taking out time from their busy schedule to come and associate with the kids and share gifts with them.
The Sis. Iye Children Foundation was founded in 1990 and runs class section from ABC to 12th grade. It has a total of 48 pupils. 22 being girls while 26 being boys.
A senior student of the school, Mitchell B. Freeman accepted the gifts on behalf of the Foundation and said God, Virtue and simplicity equal great things in the lives of the children at the Foundation.
Similar words of gratitude reverberated in the tune of all of the orphanages as a mark of appreciation as they received the gifts from the AG Children Foundation respectively at different time intervals during the Independence Day celebration.
At the Rock of Devine Children Home in the SKD Community, Paynesville City, Apostle Mother Fatu K. Smith was moved and excited by the intervention.
She assemble her students who were 53 in number and the beautiful rendition from their lips was enough to stir deep emotion among the delegation of the AG Children Foundation.
The AG Children Foundation delegation distributing the items was headed by its President Alejandro Bellapart president of the foundation.
The AG Children Foundation is headquartered in Mahoica, Spain and makes social interventions through direct contacts with people in need. The Group has since established a branch in Liberia which is headed by Corina Tete Weah, Liberia Program Officer.
According to Alejandro Bellapart, affectionately called Alex, some of the items, especially jerseys, football and towels, were given the foundation by a third division team in Spain called Bateares Atleitico and the Spanish National Team called Notaries.
He said other items distributed including rice, mineral waters and assorted items were bought locally from the Liberian market.
Alex intoned that one of the goals of the Foundation is to help kids learn how to fend and fetch for themselves, a program he opined, will form part of the AG Children future humanitarian interventions in Liberia in the not too distance future.
He also said, the AG Foundation was forging a partnership with the Clar Weah Foundation for the effective implementation of future humanitarian interventions across Liberia.
In a passionate appeal, Alex said, his Group will seek audience with the relevant government agencies so as to ensure that they be granted duty freed privileges to bring in huge quantities of humanitarian and other life saving material for the use of more orphanage homes, medical centers and the poor of the poorest so as to help government in rolling out its people centered pro-poor agenda for prosperity and national development.
