Today is International Women’s Day, which commemorates the movement for women’s rights. It’s full name is the United Nations Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace. It was first celebrated on February 28, 1909 in New York.
While the day has been acknowledged by protests, strikes and marches over its more than 100-year history, these days it honours and celebrates women in all countries in all sectors of society.
