‘Old Grand’ True Whig Party Joins CDC

Liberia’s oldest political party, the True Whig Party (TWP) has endorsed the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) for the upcoming runoff presidential elections between Senator George Weah and Vice President Joseph Nyuma Boakai.

According to a press release issued today and by Z. Kweque Coleman, National Assistant Secretary for press and propaganda, the decision was taken recently by the executive committee of the Party at the headquarters of the TWP in Monrovia.

The press release said, “The TWP is prepared to unleash it political machinery throughout the country to ensure victory for the CDC, with the expectation that victory at the runoff polls will mark a new beginning for Liberia democracy through inclusive governance.”

In a related development, the press release also said the TWP has meanwhile congratulated the people of Liberia for patience and maturity exhibited during the recent political impasses, and commends the National Elections Commission and the Supreme Court for expeditiously handling the investigation and ruling into the electoral process.
