Palestinian Authorities Are Against Trump’s Decision on Jerusalem

Flash Back: Palestinians react during a protest against U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip December 6, 2017.

(Prensa Latina) The main Palestinian authorities were against the decision announced yesterday by the US President, Donald Trump, to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was one of the first to react to this measure.

Through these regrettable decisions, the United States deliberately boycotts all peace efforts and proclaims that it abandons the role of sponsor of the peace process it has exercised in recent decades, he said.

By its part, the secretary general of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), Saeb Erakat, declared that Trump had destroyed the so-called two-state solution.

Hamas, the radical Palestinian group, considered that the decision of the US president ‘opened the gates of hell’ and called for a new intifada (rebellion) that will begin, according to its leader, this Friday.

Ismael Raduan, a senior Hamas official, called on Arab and Muslim countries to cut political and economic ties with US embassies and expel ambassadors from Washington.
