Al Jerome Anastas Chede Sr., one of Liberia’s renowned pro-democracy and social justice, broadcast journalists and political commentators, has endorsed Senator George Manneh Weah for President, calling him “a man with extraordinary gifts of leadership and character.”
“I can’t wait to tell his story and dismiss all those lies out there about him. We grew up together as underprivileged kids who knew the true definition of struggle,” Chede said in defense of his childhood friend.
“I’ve always marveled at Weah’s love for country, his grit and grace and his relentless desire to change Liberia for hope,” he said of the man whom he nicknamed The Finisher.
Al-jerome is highly revered for his fearless and objective analysis of the issues. Many fear him for his tough-talking and deep questioning tactics.
A no-holds-barred journalist who’s in the position to help Weah court millennials and baby-boomers, two key voting groups that appeal to the CDC ideology, Chede is expected to campaign vigorously for Weah in the coming days and will take to the airwaves beginning this week on both Hott FM and King’s FM respectively.
Chede served as Vice President for News and Personnel Development at the New Liberia FM based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In addition, he serves as Director of News and Programs of the Africa Rendezvous Television Show on Northwest Community Television. Mr. Chede was one of the founding coordinators and a news anchor of the African Roots Connection on KMOJ Radio FM 89.9 in Minneapolis, MN USA.
Most importantly, Mr. Chede was and still is a household name when he served as a member of the ELCM (now Radio Veritas) family and later, the host of the popular Issues in the Press Radio Program on Radio Monrovia, during one of the toughest regimes in Liberia.
Presently, Mr. Chede is a Consumer Default Management Analyst with the U.S. Bank Corporation in the United States of America, where he has served for over 15 years. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from the University of Liberia and two Master’s degrees in Education and Human Resource Management from the St. Mary’s University in Minnesota, USA, where he is currently pursuing another Master’s degree, this time in Project Management.
Mr. Chede is the founding chairman of the Student Democratic Alliance (STUDA) of the University of Liberia and also former president of the student of the 1997 student of the Ibrahim Babangida Graduate School of International Relations.
