State Police sends troopers to Puerto Rico to help with recovery

New Jersey State Police is the latest force in the state to send its officers to Puerto Rico to assist in the recovery efforts from Hurricane Maria.

The agency announced on Twitter Friday that it was sending troops and cruisers down the devastated island.

Newark and the Port Authority sent down police officers, firefighters and other staffers to help responders on the island late last month.

According to ABC, the State Police had 48 troopers en route to assist with traffic control and security at gas stations and food and water distribution spots.
