UNION CITY — Three police officers were struck by a hit-and-run motorcyclist in Union City Wednesday night as they worked at an earlier fatal accident scene, reports said.

The officers were at the scene where a 16-year-old bicyclist was fatally struck by a truck when at least one motorcycle hit the officers near Palisades Avenue and 31th Street, according to reports from CBS2 and NBC New York.

One officer was listed in critical condition, NBC New York reported.

“Please pray for all the officers injured in Union City incident tonight. Officers have been taken to area hospitals,” the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association said on Twitter.

Witnesses told WABC the teen bicyclist was struck a garbage truck.

Union City and Hudson County authorities did not immediately provide more details on the incident. A spokesman for the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately return calls for comment.
