ISIS leader ‘killed in Russian airstrike’ appears in new video

He was thought to have died in a Russian airstrike on the outskirts of the Syrian city of Raqqa back in June.

But ISIS spiritual leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has now appeared on video, showing that he is seemingly very much alive.

The 46-minute audio recording was published by the Al-Furqan news organisation, which is linked with ISIS, and marks the first time the leader has been heard from since November last year.

According to analysts, the recording is similar to previous tapes of the ISIS leader, meaning it is likely the tape was recorded in the last few months.

In the footage, Baghdadi calls for attacks on ‘the unbelievers’ media headquarters and ideological war centres’.
