“At No Time George Weah Paid My School Fees” Ngafuan Rubbishes CDC Presidential Candidate’s Assertion

Augustine Ngafuan – “Weah At No Time Paid My School Fees”

The political leader of the opposition Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Senator George Manneh Weah has again come under serious criticisms regarding statement made recently in Bong County, central Liberia that he helped to fund the educational sojourn of Liberia’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan at the time he (Ngafuan) during his days at the University of Liberia as student.

In his reaction, Mr. Ngafuan, an executive of the Boakai for President Team, said “The truth and plain truth is that at no time in my academic sojourn did Senator George Manneh Weah pay my tuition fees. And that any statement implying to the contrary is simply false and misleading”, Mr. In a full page statement published in a local daily rubbished.

Giving detail of academic pursuit, Mr. Nuan who also served as Minister of Finance, said, ”for the sake of record, I graduated from the Booker Wahington Institute (BWI)  in 1089; and while at the BWI, my tuition and fees were fully bankrolled by the American Women In Liberia (AWIL), a philanthropic group comprising American females working or residing in Liberia. I obtained my undergraduate degree from the University of Liberia,” Mr. Ngafuan explain further noted.

He said while at the University of Liberia he initially benefited from the Ministry of Education (MOE) scholarship offered to high school seniors who graduated as valedictorians of their respective classes, adding, “As a Valedictorian of the Class of 1989 of BWI, I became one of the MOE scholarship beneficiaries. I later on applied for and was awarded a full scholarship by the JJ Roberts Educational Foundation (JJREF), a scholarship I benefited from up to the time of my graduation from the University of Liberia. Today, I am proud to be a JJ Roberts Veteran Scholar,” Mr. Ngafuan concluded.

Senator Weah’s statement that he personally funded the educational sojourn of Mr. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan has received with strong condemnations from the public, noting that the denigrated statement being made by the CDC strong man has brought this political party to public mockery.
