North Korea launched a ballistic missile, the first such launch since economic sanctions were imposed on the country, CNN reported Friday.

It is the 19th missile the country has launched since February.

The launch is believed to be a response to joint U.S.-South Korean military exercises, which the North Korean government warned would be seen as provocative.

Little information was immediately available on the missile test, including its course or the type of missile involved, CNN also reported.
