Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in the Liberian capital Monrovia this weekend for the summit of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), and is met on arrival by ECOWAS chairperson, President Ellen Johnson – Sirleaf of Liberia. Upon arrival, the prime minister said, “Israel is back in Africa.”
Israel-Africa Friendship Organization (IAFO) considers ECOWAS’ move in welcoming Israel to the summit as pivotal to furthering and strengthening stronger diplomatic ties between the West African regional bloc and the Jewish State of Israel. IAFO commends ECOWAS chair and Liberian President Sirleaf, and the entire leadership of ECOWAS for this visionary diplomatic gesture, and considers it a rewarding venture.
