TRENTON — The woman accused of killing her husband, a retired city cop, while he was recovering from back surgery, was found dead last week in her Florida home, according to reports.
Jan Sochalski, 62, was charged with second-degree murder and was awaiting trial when she was found dead Thursday. Prosecutors say she allegedly suffocated her husband, Henry A. “Butch” Sochalski, 64, a year ago.
Henry Sochalski served 25 years as a Trenton patrolman, retiring in 2003. Shortly thereafter, the Sochalskis moved from Mercer County to Palm Coast, Florida.
Authorities alleged that Jan Sochalski was “hovering” over her husband and combative with staff members at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
