The National Social Security and Welfare Corporation (NASSCORP) under the leadership of one of Liberia’s most committed and hardworking management teams is vigorously impacting the lives of Liberians by bringing to them those unique services being provided by this institution.

Few days ago, a modern regional office headquarters contains a service center,  banking facilities for lease to potential banking institutions,  and a residential quarter valued at US$400,000 was officially dedicated in the heart of Kakata City, Margibi County.

This initiative on the part of NASSCORP has been received with lots of happiness from both residents of the County and officials of the Liberian Government who graciously took part in the dedication; expressing thanks and appreciation to the Dewitt VonBallmoos’ management team for being farsighted in their developmental initiative throughout the Country.

The hopes and aspirations of the NASSCORP management team is to see the entire counties’ capital by enjoy similar modernize facilities around the country; bringing real and total developmental light in those cities and towns to be covered by the construction of those facilities in order to efficiently provide conducive working environment for its employees throughout the country.

The dedication of the regional office, according to NASSCORP, is in fulfilment of its decentralization program and its desire to perfect the social security system for the benefit of the Liberian people throughout the country.

Director General of NASSCORP Dewitt VonBallmoos explained during the ceremony that the chief function of the company social security agency is to devise means that compensate enrollees for the loss of their natural ability to earn an income, due to work related accidents, occupational disease, old age, invalidity or death.

He said, his administration as NASSCORP has embarked on a number of investment projects in many parts of the country, mainly in the areas of real estate ventures.

Speaking further at the program, the NASSCORP boss said: “Let me inform you that our real property represents 72 percent of the corporation’s portfolio that includes the Paynesville commercial complex at the ELWA junction, leased to the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA); residential properties in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, a 16-bedroom guest house in Voinjama, Lofa County.

“In order to alleviate the problem of leasing, the corporation has undertaken the acquisition of land in the various counties to construct regional offices and residences.

Eventually adopting this strategy, NASSCORP will have no reason to lease private buildings for its offices and residences so that money spent on rent would be redirected to other profitable investments.

This, in turn, would help to sustain the solvency of the social security program.”

VonBallmoos further said extending social service to all parts of the country is his administration’s principal objective.

The Kakata NASSCORP dedication program was graced by several officials of the Liberian Government including Vice President Joseph Boakai.

Making remarks the Liberia Vice President and standard bearer of the Unity Party said, the project is a dividend of peace and stability.

“If you have peace this is what you have. We are also seeing what it means to have the right people at the right place at the right time. We have people who know what it means to do something for the country.

Thank you for the commitment to your country and for your dedication.

This is going to add to the steps already taken to alleviate the difficulties faced by our people out of Monrovia to have access to quality basic services,” Vice President Boakai said.
